The following table shows quantities recorded "manually" before we had the
ROOT macro "longterm testing" (100 Hours) available for continuos monitoring and
data display.
Irradiation dose is about 0.468 MRad /100 hours.
On 12/19/01 the temperature of the coolant was changed from 18° C to 15° C
The temperature reading has an offset of a few degrees due to the voltage drop
of 40mV at the extension cable (plus a patch card)
The chips were irradiated for ~178.9 hours in this first part.
Idd started to encrease towards the end of this first run when the radiation is
of the order of 0.88 MRad.

Before irradiation |
278.9 | 12/21 - 12/25 | 570 | 1.37 | The first 100-H RUN which ended on Christmas Day. Idd encrease is of the order of 16% (from 490 mA on day 1)
379.2 | 12/25 - 12/29 | 630 | 1.86 | 12/29/01
479.5 | 12/29/01 - 1/2/02 | 700 | 2.36 | Chips are not responding to scans
494.7 | 1/2/02 - 1/3/02 | 750 | 2.43 | At the beginning of this RUN (after chips were not responding) Idd went up to 850 mA. The run was stopped for biology source training and debugging. Idd went down to 710 mA before next run.
518.6 | 1/3/02 - 1/4/02 | 720 | 2.55 | We stopped the run for more debugging of the timeout problem (we can't get real data between runs). Suspected bad bond or bad chips but decided to restore longterm RUN and do more debugging after the weekend.
583.9 | 1/4/02 - 1/7/02 | 770 | 2.87 | Shutdown at the end of this run
1/7/02 - 1/9/02 | 1/9/02 |
We investigated damage due
to condensation at hybrid detected before disconnecting it.
Pads on hybrid were cleaned up and damaged bonds restored.
Hybrid and all chips are OK, except chip 10 which intermittently
doesn't give data back but it's alive (it came back for good later).
(Pictures of this nightmare)
The shutdown lasted for ~ 55 hours. Hybrid was re-installed on 1/9/02 at 17:20. Idd went down to 720 mA after shutdown.
682.7 | 1/9/02 - 1/13/02 | 800 | 3.36
694.3 | 1/13/02 - 1/14/02 | 800 | 3.39 | 1/14/02 | This run automatically stopped after a few hours (at 4:00 am) due to a sudden encrease of the temperature (83° C)detected by the SCTLV. LV ramped down. Chips were still under irradiation but not running (for 4.83 hours until 8:50 am when source was stopped). Later in the morning we checked status of the hybrid before starting a new RUN. |
794.2 | 1/14/02 - 1/18/02 | 835 | 3.9 | 1/18/02

RUN (no source) |
880 | 5.16 | 1/29/02(1)
1/29/02(2) |
Irradiation stopped for 5.3 hours due to other groups need for source.
During this time chips were kept running. |

2/7/02 - 2/11/02 |
900 | 6.69 | 2/11/02 | A first run on 2/7 crashed after ~13 hours (started after midnight stopped at 1 pm). A new run started shortly after the crash. |
1382.15 | 2/11/02 - 2/12/02 | 870 | 6.79
1399.65 | 2/12/02 - 2/13/02 | 860 | 6.88 | This RUN was stopped to perform dose rate measurements with TLD's
1403.06 | 2/13/02 - 2/13/02 | 860 | 6.89
1501.9 | 2/13/02 - 2/17/02 | 860 | 7.38 | 2/17/02 | During this run source was off for about 1 hour due to dose rate measurements (2/15 9:44-10:44) |
1599.9 | 2/17/02 - 2/22/02 | 860 | 7.86 | 2/22/02 | During this run source was off for about 2+2+12+40 minutes for gas work (2/20) and 1 hour during biology RUN (2/21 15:15-16:15) |
1684.7 | 2/22/02 - 2/25/02 | 860 | 8.28 | RUN stopped for biology RUN
1702.76 | 2/25/02 - 2/26/02 | 840-850 | 8.37 | RUN stopped to allow for a long biology RUN
- | 2/26/02 - 2/27/02 | 820 | - | RUN with NO source over night during biology RUN

1850.28 | 3/3/02 - 3/5/02 | 830 | 9.09 | At the end of this RUN we performed the 1st calibration RUN of 4 columns, 6 rows of TLD's at 1.5 m exposed for 20.5 minutes (~101 rad)
1869.0 | 3/5/02 - 3/6/02 | 830 | 9.18 | At the end of this RUN we performed the 2nd calibration RUN of 4 columns, 6 rows of TLD's at 1.5 m exposed for 20.5 minutes (~101 rad)
1891.2 | 3/6/02 - 3/7/02 | 850 | 9.29 |
At the end of this RUN we performed the 3rd calibration RUN of 4 columns, 6 rows of TLD's at 1.5 m exposed for 20.5 minutes (~101 rad).
Results of the TLD calibration RUN's can be found
here.
A Vectoreen R Probe was also exposed at 4.75 m for 20.5 minutes during run#3 and by itself (3 min) at 1.5 m, to verify dose.
1908.28 | 3/7/02 - 3/8/02 | 830 | 9.38 | 3/10/02 |
This RUN crashed. The cause: over temperature but it's probably a memory
problem (it happened also 2 months ago on 1/14). Unfortunately, this time
(and for the first time) the crash was detected 2 days later.
The chips were irradiated but not clocked/triggered for 64.2 hours.
Idd is now down to 750 mA (3/10/02). And there is a gap of .3 MRad |
1988.98 | 3/10/02 - 3/11/02 | 760 | 9.77/td> | At the end of this RUN we performed a 4th calibration RUN of 4 columns, 6 rows of TLD's at 1.5 m exposed for 20.5 minutes (~101 rad). TLD's were placed in the holder in different position to confirm uniformity of irradiation. Results of the 4 calibration runs can be found here.
2012.2 | 3/11/02 - 3/12/02 | 770 | 9.89 | At the end of this RUN we performed a dose rate measurement RUN using the same matrix of TLD's that we had calibrated in the previous days. TLD's were placed inside the bread-box in same location of hybrid. Results of this measurement and calculation of dose rate can be found here.
2112.1 | 3/12/02 - 3/16/02 | 790 | 10.38 | 3/16/02
2220.5 | 3/16/02 - 3/21/02
3/21/02 - 3/21/02 |
790 | 10.91 | 3/21/02(at 10.87 MRad) | Last RUN 3/16-3/21 plus a short one overnight until we stopped the irradiation in the morning at 9:46 am. |
Noise | VT50 | Gain | Strobe Delay | 3/21/02 up to 10.87 MRad
